Gratitude Challenge- Day #1

As I mentioned in a previous blog, I had been thinking of doing a gratitude challenge.  I’ve always loved the idea, but could never find a challenge that I liked.  I like parts of one challenge and parts of another, etc.  So, instead of following just one gratitude challenge, I’ve decided to do my own- which includes the parts from the challenges that I liked.

Those include-

and the instagram 30 day photo challenge: gratitude

So, my challenge will be a hodgepodge of those…  I’ll probably be following the gratitude challenge the closest, but hoping to make 30 days out of it, instead of the 21 that it suggests, and then using the other two sites as inspirations.

Day 1 of the challenge is to make a pledge to the challenge of being grateful.  gratitude-pledge is the pledge that gratitude challenge uses.

Since, I’m a hopeless optimist, sometimes to a fault 🙂 – I didn’t think the entire pledge provided was completely appropriate for me.

To here’s my pledge:

With a hopeful outlook, I, Amy, promise to fulfill the terms of my own gratitude challenge. Over the next 30 days, I pledge to complete activities that promote positive and grateful thinking which may include writing journal entries, taking photos and connecting with friends. I promise to take note of life’s little blessings and to give thanks for the relationships, experiences and opportunities that make
my life unique.

I urge you to start your own pledge of gratefulness or to follow along with me.  You know the expression, “can’t see the forest for the trees”?  Well, sometimes I think that it’s hard to see the specific tree because of the forest that surrounds you.  It’s the recurring theme about perspective, again 🙂  Sometimes the forest is surrounding us and there’s just so much of it that we forget to appreciate the individual tree.  The same is true with life.  Life often overwhelms us and so much is going on that we forget to appreciate all of the little things that are right in front of us.

So, this challenge will put life back into perspective and focus on being grateful.
